Torment: Tides of Numenera features encounters called Crisis which are designed to make combat feel as flexible and varied as its dialogue.
Some issues with RPG’s seem to revolve around the battle system not being able to live up to the rest of the game. There maybe lots of options in dialogue and quests, but then combat puts players into obliged tactics specific to a characters build, instead of being able to explore all the options available.
Tides of Numenera is a spiritual precursor to one of the most acclaimed RPG’s of the time.
