Toybox demo releases for Yooka-Laylee backers


Playtonic Games #released the Toybox demo for Linux, Mac and Windows PC via Steam for Yooka-Laylee. If you backed the Kickstarter campaign at the higher tier to secure a code, #backers might stop reading now and get into some #gameplay.

Published by Team17, Yooka-Laylee features characters Yooka and Laylee, loaded with special moves to explore the gorgeous 3D world, find collectibles, secrets to unlock and other characters to meet or battle. The Yooka-Laylee Toybox was been created from scratch for backers and not be considered a traditional demo. Having officially launched for those selected Kickstarter backers, the FAQ warns that this is “only a small sample of the finished production – and visually incomparable”.

“The Toybox is a self-contained, spoiler-free sandbox designed to give Yooka-Laylee backers a taste of the platforming mechanics set to appear in the final game. There are moves to try, custom-built props to play with, secrets to discover and yes, shiny collectibles to hunt out, but it’s only a small sample of the finished production – and visually incomparable.”

Based on reactions thus far Yooka-Laylee, this just keeps the remaining backers eager for the release, since the Kickstarter was successfully funded this time last year.
