Underworld Ascendant Linux and Mac support update. We reached out to OtherSide Entertainment. Since we are to expect support by the end of June. And the games been available on Steam and Humble Store since November 2018.
Underworld Ascendant action RPG is coming thanks to fan funding. All thanks to independent game studio OtherSide Entertainment. Co-founded by Paul Neurath (Ultima Underworld, Thief). Including Warren Spector (Deus Ex, Epic Mickey). The Steam release launched on Windows PC, November 15, 2018. Priced at $29.99 USD.
Since then we have been waiting patiently for Linux support. And yes that also includes the Mac build. So I reached out again, hoping for specifics.
Linux Support update:
As I’ve mentioned before, the Mac and Linux ports are being handled by an external contractor. And progress is still running as scheduled. They have to match our PC hotfix changes. And are still primarily tackling some shader and loading issues. Note that PS4 and Xbox One hotfixes will be released first.
As we get closer to a Underworld Ascendant Mac and Linux release. We will contact our Mac and Linux playtesters. If they are still eager in reviewing the build. I will be following up with upper management today to review the timeline.
Hoping to get Mac and Linux done as quickly as possible. Since they’re actually blocking me from shipping out the physical discs at the moment. (The executables are promised on the discs for the physical versions.
So there you have it. Apparently we will have Linux a executable on the physical version. But there is still work being done on the shaders. And it’s a pleasure to get a further update on the hotfix status.
While we still do not have a release date. The Steam Summer Sale has less then a week left….
