Unreal Engine 4 to be the game engine for Tekken 7 release

Namco Bandai announced the next title to their Tekken #fightinggame franchise, Tekken 7, during the 2014 Evolution Championship Series. The #announcement was made alongside a trailer video.

The company only made the announcement that the game was currently in development and has not ascertained when it will be released and on what platform it will be released.

It was announced, however, that the game will be using the Unreal Engine 4. The game engine was only released earlier this year and not a lot of games have been released using the engine.

Tekken 7 will be continuing from the story of Tekken 6, extending the rivalry and strife between the Mishima family – notably between Heihachi and Kazuya – as seen in the trailer. The game however will most likely be the last to feature the Mishima storyline, as hinted by the video.

There will also be a new character to be introduced in the upcoming game and is revealed to be an Arab-looking assassin-like character. Director and producer of the game Katsuhiro Harada asked fans and gamers for feedback on the concept and was mostly faced with comments on the similarity of the character to the assassins from the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Harada’s responses to fan’s comments were made on Twitter and he expressed his surprise when a large number of feedback was given regarding the concept.

“I’m surprised at the number of feedback and reactions (on the Facebook, Twitter, Internet media) about Arab character,” Harada said in a tweet.

The new character is short-haired as Harada learned during his trip to Dubai and Saudi Arabia that long hair was not suitable for Arab fighters. Other typical Arabian wardrobe features like the long coat was also missing because of a high hardware demand.
