So in preparation of the release date, publisher Kasedo Games, in partnership with Games Workshop. Announced that the tactical turn-based title is indeed coming to Linux and Mac.
Linux Soft Launch:
“Not LIVE yet, but will be coming this week.”
So this bit of detail comes as a pleasant surprise. Actually back in February, we did post news that the release will come later in 2018. But to be completely fair, I did expect support for the November launch for Mechanicus, alas. Now we have formal confirmation on Steam.
Further news about the plans are available on Steam as well. Also acknowledging the coming release this week, finally.
“We would like to launch the 2 versions as a soft launch.
What we mean is the build will become available before the Christmas holidays, but it will be an opt-in beta branch (located on the PTR). Once the holidays are over we will be launching these versions officially.”
Also, for the record, I am able to play Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus via Proton using Steam Play. But results vary and I definitely welcome a native Linux release for this Unity 3D based game.
