West of Dead is a new action roguelike due to relase tomorrow, June 18th. The game will also have you shoot villains in the wild wild afterlife. Doing so in a delicious looking art style. The gameplay actually caught my attention right off. Being a fan of action roguelike games. It only makes sense to see Linux support.
The engine is Unity 3D. The Linux port is aimed to release at the same time as the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch in August.
This is certainly good news for West of Dead. There is no release date available, obviously. Since the release will mean the usually bug fixes and changes. And since the game is developed in Unity 3D. This also means Platinum support for Proton and the controller integration is excellent.
West of Dead – Coming to Steam
West of Dead take place in Purgatory, Wyoming, 1888. A place of gun smoke and darkness, sin and damnation. There are also wendigos and witches. A shifting, chaotic world that takes its form from the memories. Various culture or beliefs of the souls who pass through. When a dead man awakens with only the memory of a figure in black. He sets a chain of events into motion that have true mythic consequences.
Step into the boots of the dead man William Mason (voiced by Ron Perlman). While you descend into the grim and gritty world of Purgatory. West of Dead is a fast paced cover shooter combines the fluidity of twin stick controls and tactical cover usage. With a design to put your skills to the test. Dodge behind cover as you try to outgun your enemies. All in the unknown procedurally generated hunting grounds. The Wild West has never been this dark.
West of Dead action roguelike coming this summer on Linux. Available tomorrow on Windows PC via Humble Store, Steam and GOG. The Release price is $19.99 USD. Anyone who plays the Open Beta on Steam gets a 15% discount at launch. Definitely worth playing, even on Proton.
