Feral Interactive today announced that the #awardwinning strategy game XCOM®: Enemy Unknown, and all #available add-on content including the XCOM: Enemy Within #expansion, will be released for Linux this summer. Developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K for PC and consoles, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is the first game to be developed and published for Linux by Feral Interactive.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a re-imagining of the groundbreaking classic X-COM: UFO Defense (1994) that tasks players with defending the Earth from a hostile alien invasion using a combination of deep strategy and intense tactical combat. As the commander of XCOM, a secret global military organization, players oversee combat strategies and individual unit tactics as well as base management and resource allocation.
The Linux version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be a SteamPlay title that runs on Ubuntu 14.04 and Valve’s SteamOS.
“We’re thrilled to have been given the opportunity to bring XCOM: Enemy Unknown to Linux,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “It’s an amazing game and we are hopeful that Linux gamers will welcome this addition to their platform.”
Pricing and system requirements for XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM: Enemy Within for Linux will be disclosed closer to the release date. An information page dedicated to XCOM: Enemy Unknown on Steam has been made available.
