Developer Ganymede has some updates about their upcoming release, Xenotheria. It’s a card-based RPG that will be available on Steam later this year. In fact, they just released a new demo, so that Linux can try it out right now. Its plays really well via Proton too.

Xenotheria is all about combining the mix of deck-building games with a unique story. Here, you’ll play a character Squig who lives on a planet called Wolf Prime. It used to be a peaceful place, but something strange is happening. Spaceships are being pulled out of the sky by a mysterious force, and chaos is spreading all over the planet. Squig and his friend Norton decide to find out what’s going on and stop the destruction.

As you play you’ll explore different places on Wolf Prime, and you’ll have to fight off enemies. To win battles, you’ll need to be smart and use your cards wisely. Each character has their own set of cards that they can use during fights. You can even create your own cards by finding resources while on missions. This gives you the freedom to play in your own way.

The combat in Xenotheria is a bit different from other games. It’s a party-based positional combat, which means where you place your characters on the battlefield is really key. You’ll also meet new allies and they will join your party. Each ally has its own cards too, so you can mix and match to create the strongest team against different enemies.

But Xenotheria isn’t just about fighting. While you explore, you’ll also gather resources and meet new friends. And there’s also a mystery to solve! You’ll uncover the forgotten stories of an ancient alien species and try to save the planet from complete ruin.

The game world is carefully crafted and looks amazing. You’ll get to visit various places with their own unique look and feel. Some places are friendly, while others are full of dangerous creatures. So, you’ll need to have your wits about you.
