Road Redemption racing action now has a release date for Linux, Mac and Windows PC

The #spiritualsuccessor to #RoadRash, called Road Redemption, launched a Kickstarter a few years back with an expected release date of 2014. We are now going into the second-half of 2016 and the #game finally has an official launch date.

Road Redemption technically launched on Early Access and has received a number of patches and updates to improve the game. In fact, developer PixelDash Studios has revealed that the game has sold 100,000 copies to date.

The game initially secured funding on Kickstarter back in 2013. A release date was set for August 2014, that release date never came to be but there is a reason:

“We decided that since our backers have had access to regularly-patched PC, Mac, and Linux beta versions of the game, that it’s better to take our time and release something great, than to feel pressured to stick to our 2014 kickstarter date and release something mediocre.” said project founder Ian Fisch. “We’ve seen kickstarted games like Armikrog and Mighty Number 9 release before they were ready,” says Fisch, “and I don’t think that satisfies anyone”.

“What happened with Mighty Number 9 shows that a potentially great game can be dragged down by trying to bring it to too many platforms. By putting the focus on PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, and PS4, we can maximise Road Redemption’s physics, AI, and visuals, rather than be hamstrung by trying to support lower spec machines,” said Fisch.

What is Road Redemption all about?

Lead your motorcycle gang on an epic journey across the country in this driving combat adventure.
Earn money by completing races, assassinations, robberies, and other challenges in your path. As you collect loot, you’ll upgrade your character, your bike, and your weapons.

One Life To Live

Driving a motorcycle at 100 mph while trying to hit someone with a pipe is dangerous, and death can come quickly. There are no extra lives nor continues. Fortunately, every time you die, all the experience you’ve collected can be used to upgrade your character, your bike, and your weapons.

In the multiplayer mode, you can work with your friends or fight against them. It’s up to you.

A Truly Epic Quest

Road Redemption takes place in a post-apocalyptic America, ruled by a brutal dictator. Without telling anyone, your gang leader has decided to head to the capital on a desperate assassination attempt. When the government catches him, the consequences for your gang, and everyone you know and love, will be devastating.

It’s up to you and your fellow gang members to race across hundreds of miles of dangerous highways in order to track down your derelict leader before the government does. What you do next is up to you. Do you try to stop him in order to protect your family and friends from punishment, or do you join him in a risky attempt at ending the oppression once and for all?

More Features:

  • Single Player Campaign with full 4-player splitscreen co-op (online support coming very soon).
  • Massive, expandable skill tree. Rack in the loot to upgrade your character, your bike, and your weapons.
  • A deep motorcycle fighting system with grabs, kicks, counters, critical strikes, and more.
  • Full support for both mouse & keyboard and gamepad control configurations.

Without further ado, the new release date for Road Redemption is October 15, 2016 on Linux, Mac and Windows PC.

Road Redemption now available on Early Access with Shovel Knight?

If that’s not weird, Shovel Knight is now a #playable #character in Road Redemption, the spiritual successor to Road Rash. It is also, kind of awesome to see the blue-suited hero smacking people with a #shovel at unlawful speeds.  Cruising around town in his full suit of armor thwacking people with a shovel, which is admittedly pretty terrifying to think about.

Road Redemption is a procedurally generated combat driving game in which players jet around the country completing assassinations, robberies, races and then some.

Road Redemption is currently available via Steam Early Access.

Shovel Knight, star of the 2014 award-winning platformer, is stepping into 3d to take on outlaw biker gangs in Road Redemption this holiday season.

Yacht Club Games and Dark Seas Games have teamed up to bring Shovel Knight to Road Redemption, a spiritual successor to Road Rash. All owners of Road Redemption will be able to play as Shovel Knight as of December 22, 2014.

“This incarnation of our stalwart, blue hero could not have us more excited and I can’t wait until he crosses the generational gap from pixels to glorious polygons in Road Redemption.” – Nick Wozniak of Yachtclub Games

“Shovel Knight is basically Road Redemption’s version of The Terminator. He’s this plate-armored unstoppable juggernaut, and it’s great to have the opportunity to include him in our game.” -Ian Fisch of Darkseas Games

Road Redemption is currently available on Steam Early Access for Windows PC. Mac, Linux, Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4 versions are in active development. All are scheduled for release in Q3 2015.

Road Redemption coming to Linux – Kickstarter

Road Redemption, a spiritual successor to Road Rash currently seeking funding through Kickstarter, will be coming to Linux, PC, Mac, and Wii U when DarkSeas Games successfully secures support.

Dark Seas Games sited the high spec platforms (Windows PC, Mac, Linux, and Wii U) to maximize elements like physics complexity, level size, number of onscreen drivers, control complexity, and graphical fidelity. The developers also considered further support of the Unity engine and Wii U, as deciding factors for porting Road Redemption.

Road Redemption is the experience that we’ve been dying to play for over a decade. With your help to make it the best experience possible. Make no mistake, Dark Seas Games are developing Road Redemption toward experienced gamers.

Road Redemption features a complex and rewarding combat system designed, from the ground up, to offer a great experience on mouse and keyboard.
