Evil Wizard is due to release on May 25, 2023, and it’s going to be available on Windows PC. But no to worry, Linux and Steam Deck players will be able to play it.
We would love to have the “Steam Deck Verified” check, but as we’re a small indie studio, we don’t have the option to send the game for review to get it. The good news is that we’re optimizing the game to run on Steam Deck and it’s one of our main goals.
This is the reply for the Evil Wizard Discussions post. The Unity 3D RPG is due to be optimized for Steam Deck. Which should also translate well to Proton with Linux. No word yet for a native Linux build though.
So, what is Evil Wizard all about? Well, in this game, you play the bad guy! A wizard who has just been defeated by a hero, and you’re pretty angry about it. So now you want revenge, and you’ll do whatever it takes to get it.
The game takes place in a world with pixel art graphics. You’ll also have to fight your way through various settings full of enemies. Even though you used to be a powerful wizard, you lost all your powers battling the hero. As a result, you’ll have to start from scratch and learn new spells and abilities as you progress.

As you explore the Evil Wizard levels, you’ll find that it’s more like a Metroidvania game. Due to give players to use their skills and abilities to unlock new paths and explore new areas. There will also be puzzles to solve and traps to avoid. So you’ll need to be cautious and use your powers wisely.
