Earth Analog space flight game support is coming to Linux gaming and Windows PC. Thanks to the creative efforts of developer Funcraft Games. The game is due to arrive in Q1 2021 via Steam. And the game looks fantastic.
The fractal based space exploration game Earth Analog released its gameplay trailer. Along with the announcement that the game will be released in Q1 2021. Plus we have some further details for a release in Linux gaming.
It’s based on a custom game engine (C++/OpenGL-based).
As promised on the game’s forums on Steam: the linux port is the first item on the list after the 1.0 release of the game (expected in Q1 2021).
So apart from the Discussions comment on Steam. The developer’s reply is appreciated. Since I was have expecting the game engine to be Unreal Engine 4, but that’s not the case. And getting that further confirmation regarding Linux is a pleasure. But it’s coming post launch though. Maybe not a bad thing, seeing more effort will go into testing. Especially Earth Analog has some stunning visuals to render.
Apart from steering and landing your ship and exploring distant planetary systems. You will also have to keep all the ship systems operational. Which gives Earth Analog gameplay a further dynamic. Since this involves prospecting and mining for resources. Upgrading ship systems and fixing broken parts. You will also have to hunt for precious stones and artifacts. So you can unlock new paths in your journey. And will you be able to control the mysterious Dimension Device? It’s all up to you, you are completely alone out there… or are you?
Earth Analog Trailer
“Ever since the day I watched Interstellar. I wanted to create a space sim game that captures that sense of mystery and excitement.”, said Roy van Ophuizen, CEO of Funcraft Games. “When I discovered the innovative render technique called ray marching. And learned how that could be used to display real-time fractal worlds. I knew that my dream could become reality.”.
Earth Analog is actually a space flight simulator. So you will have to keep your ship in one piece. All while traveling through mysterious and often dangerous worlds. Apart from steering and landing your ship and exploring distant planetary systems. Players will also have to prospect and mine for fuel and water. It’s all up to you, you are alone out there… or are you?
