Mirage: Arcane Warfare and Linux support

mirage: arcane warfare the chivalry followup and linux support in gaming news

Right now the follow up to the first-person hack and slash Chivalry is making gaming news. Hence Mirage: Arcane Warfare is a rather progressive #firstperson gory melee #combat game with #magic. Yet the concern for Linux support seems to be high. And while just, we are going to do our best to share our point of view.

So for those of you who do not know, Mirage: Arcane Warfare is developed using Unreal Engine 4. And I know the first reaction, “we should see Linux support!!” And since I’ve pointed this out in the past, the answer is simple. Releasing a title on multiple platforms for a game of this scale is a nightmare for a developer. Since it slows down the update process and bug fixes. While the community rages on for better gaming.

And since Chivalry launched on Windows PC back October of 2012, there was a lot of hype. While the Linux release did not debut in Steam update news until January 14, 2015. Hence an obvious but huge gap. And as we would expect, developer Torn Banner faced a number of issues on both the Linux and Windows builds. So obviously they will take the time to release a solid build for their new follow-up. Hence where development becomes priority and trying to maintain multiple platforms gets limited to one.

Mirage: Arcane Warfare – Beta Walkthrough:

Gameplay in Mirage: Arcane Warfare takes place in strange fantasy world, shattered by ruthless civil war. Where warriors armed with steel and magic bring violence and death. Battling across a fantastical Arabian and Persian-inspired setting of desert sands. While also taking place in market bazaars and grand palaces.

Mirage: Arcane Warfare is a skill-based multiplayer FPS. Letting the player tear your enemies up limb from limb with destructive magic and melee combat. While you experiment and find your perfect playstyle between six diverse classes. Including stealthy assassins, hulking brutes, powerful mages and more. With an unparalleled focus on truly feeling in control of your magic and sword. Since Mirage: Arcane Warfare requires creative combat which will challenge you like never before.

So, for all of those interested in showing that Linux love. Head over to the Steam Discussion and throw a positive comment into the mix. Since the one thing a developer loves is seeing a huge demand for their game.

While others may want hone your skills by playing in Wine. Either way, you can pre-order via Steam or Humble Store.
