SWAP/MEAT playtest is coming this Friday for the roguelite third-person shooter game on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the talented team at One More Game. Due to make its way onto Steam.
SWAP/MEAT, a new co-op shooter from the team at One More Game, is back with another playtest this Friday, September 6th at 11 AM PST (2pm EST). The playtest runs until Tuesday, September 10th at noon PST (3pm EST), so there’s plenty of time to jump in. The game has already getting notice at Gamescom and PAX, getting the nod for “Creative Overkill” at the Indie Awards.
Even though the playtest is here, SWAP/MEAT is still in development. It’s a roguelite third-person shooter that throws you into the wildest worlds, battling angry aliens for their… meat. Yup, you swap meat with enemies to take their abilities, upgrading your character in real-time. It’s all about fast-paced, team-based action where you and your friends can “bring home the bacon.”
If you’re a content creator, you can register for the playtest and even get a special invite link to share with your audience. Linux players can also apply directly, and if you refer three friends, your whole squad gets guaranteed access.
SWAP/MEAT A New Co-Op Roguelite Shooter Playtest
The first playtest, held in July, helped the team at OMG make some big improvements. Thanks to player feedback, they’ve also added tons of visual upgrades, squashed bugs, and refined the systems. The patch notes for the updates are almost as long as a restaurant menu, so expect a lot of changes!
Jamie Stormbreaker, the co-founder of OMG and the SWAP/MEAT director behind the playtest, is super excited for players to try it out again. “We’re only a year into development, but we’ve cooked up something special,” he says. “And don’t worry about those ‘food safety’ rumors. The Intergalactic Food & Drug Administration might be exaggerating!”
In SWAP/MEAT, you and up to three other players take on the role of “Meat Scientists” working for Rangus Meats, a mega-corporation searching for the ultimate meat product. Your mission? Drop onto hostile planets, fight the locals, swap meat with them, and gain unique new powers. Collect the ‘meat cores’ from three planets, and you’ll face off against a wild boss fight to cap off the run.
