After the adventure strategy game was delayed earlier this year, #ImageandForm’s CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson, #hinted that SteamWorld Heist – the new title set in the deep space – would land first on Nintendo 3DS, this #December. The confirmation came directly from Sigurgeirsson himself, in a video shown during Nintendo Direct last night. There’s no official release date yet, but the game will be available next month.

SteamWorld Heist will be also be available on Linux, Mac, Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Wii U and mobile platforms. But some platforms will not see a release until next year. Naturally Linux Game News had to reach out to Image & Form for further confirmation:

SteamWorld Heist is coming to Nintendo 3DS first – just like SteamWorld Dig did once upon a 2013. 🙂 We’re then going to release it to every current-gen platform that makes sense, and Linux is among them.

Features

  • Turn-based strategy focused on skill rather than chance
  • Aim freely and bounce bullets to perform clever trick shots
  • Master 100+ weapons
Kind to newcomers, deep and challenging for veterans
  • Randomly generated levels
  • 20-25 hours of playtime and New Game+
  • Steampunk tunes by legendary Steam Powered Giraffe
  • Fearsome bosses and a playful narrative

So chances are, we can expect to see SteamWorld Heist on Linux sometime after the Nintendo release along with Mac and Windows PC.
