Bumblebee Studios is a Swedish indie developer eager to announce the launch of their Kickstarter campaign for Vaudeville. Since this is a completely new game that brings together the classic whodunit. All while using state of the art AI. Naturally, we had to reach out for details about Linux support. Here’s the reply.
Vaudeville is being developed in Unity. And yes, there will definitely be a Linux version available soon. The porting is quite simple.
According to the email reply, Bumblebee Studios are busy writing more characters. Since they plan to have around 20 characters when we leave early access. Which is due to kick off in August 2023, lasting roughly 6 months. All while using Unity 3D for development. Their use of AI-powered characters is really quite impressive.
On top of that, the game already works great on a Steam Deck. You can chat with the characters using a keyboard or the built-in microphone. As stated in the Kickstarter FAQ.

As a detective in Vaudeville, players will have to solve a series of complex murders. Doing so in a vibrant realized 1910s era theatre. The game’s AI-powered characters each have their own personalities. This also includes backgrounds and secrets. Which players must unravel and observe as well as question.
To bring Vaudeville to life, Bumblebee Studios is releasing a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising around $3,000 USD. The funds will be used to finish the development of the game.

This is a Windows PC build, but works quite well via Proton. So Linux players can take on the thrill of solving complex and dangerous cases. All while exploring the dark corners of Vaudeville.
