Dark Quest 4 the tactical, turn-based dungeon crawler game is marching its way onto Steam Deck and Linux via Windows PC. This is thanks to the unstoppable creativity of the team at Brain Seal Ltd. It is due to find its way onto Steam this week.

Fellow dungeon crawler and turn-based tactical-combat fans, gear up your gaming setup. Plug in your controller or keyboard, if that’s your thing. Let’s dive headfirst into the world of Dark Quest 4.

You wake up in a dark hall of stone. Torchlight flickers, and the air buzzes with the promise of epic quests. That’s the kind of gameplay Dark Quest 4 is gearing up to take you on. The indie powerhouse behind it, UK-based publisher Brain Seal Ltd., just confirmed the launch date: November 5th, 2025, at 18:00 UTC. Mark your calendars, since this will hit Windows PC. Meanwhile, Linux and Steam Deck players will be playable via Proton.

…Steam Deck reported very good performance and it looks we are good.

Brain Seal confirmed they’re building Dark Quest 4 in Unity. This means we can expect smooth Proton support on Steam Deck and Linux. And there’s even a chance we might see native support down the road, adding to the excitement around the release.

If you were among the lucky who played the demo during Steam Next Fest, you already got a taste of the magic. But now? Imagine the board-game classics you used to roll dice for, Hero Quest, Descent, Dungeon Saga. And then inject them with modern tactical combat, high-stakes storytelling and the kind of co-op mayhem you’ll want to spam in your chat channel. That’s the heart of Dark Quest 4.

Dark Quest 4 – Gameplay Reveal – Trailer

You build your party of heroes (ten mains to choose from!), each one with unique skills and progression paths. Then you dive into turn-based tactical combat of the dungeon crawler. Here, every move, every daring decision, and every flank or spell can turn the tide of battle. They’re running a serious campaign: 30+ handcrafted quests and over 40 unique monsters lurking in crevices. Plus, there’s a fully-voiced Dungeon Master; an evil sorcerer narrator named Gulak. In the process of befriending Dark Quest 4, he commands monstrous legions and isn’t shy about mocking you when you mess up.

And the visual look: hand-painted visuals, rich atmosphere, plenty of dramatics, our kind of game. So get ready for “one more quest” angst. Prepare for a party chat full of “OMG how did you miss that” and “Yeah I’ve been flanked AGAIN.”

For multiplayer fans: up to three players in online or local co-op. Bring your friends and raid dungeons from the couch or from opposite ends of the globe. If you’re the kind of person who always wants to build, there’s Creator Mode. You can design your own dungeons and craft your own quests. You can also string together full campaigns and share them through Steam Workshop. Your wildest imagination becomes your new playground (you know you like that sandbox chaos).

Plot Your Path

This is the kind of game where you’ll muster up your party for online co-op. Carefully plot your path into the darkness, due to hear Gulak’s sinister laugh echo as you approach the final corridor. Feel the adrenaline when you charge into the fray. You’ll laugh at your party’s missteps, you’ll cheer when the monster falls, and you’ll brag about your custom campaign when your friends still haven’t cleared the second level. Whether playing solo or with others, Dark Quest 4 will have you returning for more adventures.

So what are you waiting for? Hit the wishlist button on Steam, mark November 5th in bright red, get your favourite snack and gaming drink ready, and prepare to own the dungeons. Whether you’re solo or with friends, whether you’re on a Proton-powered Linux install or Steam Deck, you’re in for a great title. Dark Quest 4 is coming, via Windows PC.
