Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition gets crossplay for Linux, Mac and Windows PC, with consoles. Thanks to Skybound Games and Beamdog. Expanding support even further across Steam but nothing for GOG.
Since Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition brings the class gameplay to Linux. The classic Dungeons and Dragons fantasy role-playing game is out on modern consoles. And doing so for the very first time. The boxed version can also be purchased at major retailers globally for $49.99 USD. Available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The benefit for Linux players. Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition console release comes with crossplay. Which is available now on Nintendo Switch. While the news suggests that PS4 will be included. This is not the case, only multiplayer co-op. The Xbox One multiplayer co-op and crossplay is due to release in January 2020.
So if you are hoping to jump into multiplayer over the holidays. This will depend on the console platform you are trying to play with.
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Trailer
The Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition recent 1.79 Stable patch certainly delivers. Checking out the recent update includes a list of improvements. Since you can expect more bug fixes and 64bit support. There are achievements, toolset updates and more. There is even a debug UI for advanced users. So you can try the experimental new features and UI scenes. Available now using Ctrl+Shift+F12 key command.
Both client and server now has 64bit binaries. While CodeBase (“Bioware Campaign Database”) has been replaced with sqlite3. Since the old database code does not work with a 64bit compiler.
Achievements have also been added to Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition on Steam. These are the same as the Android achievements. Plus a debug UI panel to clear your achievements. Should you choose to start over.
Now, the client and server config stays in settings.tml. Rather than the nwn and nwnplayer ini. Along with added security. With full network encryption to prevent traffic snooping. So you can protect your adventure gaming experience.
