Since being on #schedule for a January 10th launch on Linux, Mac, Windows PC and PS4. Developer #InfiniteFall have therefore ran into a few issues that the three-person studio have come across. Hence releasing their first commercial game and yes, this is going to be a multi-platform launch. Something that can be somewhat rare, especially with Linux builds.

Here’s the deal:

“It’s all normal stuff, nothing is on fire. It’s all to do with the fact that we’re a tiny team making a big game. Hence a multi-platform launch is a whole *waves hands around* thing” the developer stated.”

“Right now we’re waiting on some info from outside parties as to the exact date we can launch, but it’ll be somewhere in the first part of February. We’ll be able to announce the exact date around New Years but we didn’t want to just sit on this info for the next couple weeks and spring it on folks who are looking forward to the game. And since we’re starting preorders tomorrow [NOW] we didn’t want anyone going into that without this info.”

The full details are available in the Kickstarter update for all those interested.

Night in the Woods is an adventure game focused on exploration, story, and character, featuring dozens of characters to meet and lots to do across a lush, vibrant world. After a successful Kickstarter it’s being made by Infinite Fall, a teamup of Alec Holowka (Aquaria), Scott Benson (Late Night Work Club), and Bethany Hockenberry.

As a result, Infinite Fall have released two supplemental games for Night in the Woods: Longest Night and Lost Constellation. Both are pay-what-you-want offerings on Itch, with Linux support.
