Sky Noon western FPS coming to Early Access

sky noon western fps coming to early access windows then linux

Sky Noon is a western style FPS coming to Steam Early Access for Windows on June 14th, but we will see a Linux release later. So thanks to independent game developer Lunar Rooster and indie games partner Reverb Triple XP. I just had the opportunity to play Sky Noon with the Reverb staff.

So with this recent gameplay, comes some solid confirmation. There will be a Linux and Mac release coming for the game. But the plan is to release on Early Access first. Let the community input shape the game even further. Which I have to admit is already very playable now.

Sky Noon is using Unreal Engine 4 and gameplay really smooth in it’s Beta state. So of course the engine choice makes a Linux port that much easier. And Reverb did confirm these details. Since developer Lunar Rooster have gone out of their way to ensure a success Early Access release. Which is definitely a smart idea.

I thought I had all of the gameplay recorded, but apparently not. Long story, but I’m seriously annoyed because Linux gamers will love this. Since this blends Team Fortress 2 style gaming with Overwatch. But way faster. Seeing you can easily get pushed off the map. But also use the grappling hook to reel yourself back in. That is if you’re close enough.

Sky Noon combines the fast-paced first person action. While including brawler play mechanics in a reimagined steampunk Wild West. And each time you spawn in, you have a different set of guns. But that can be switch up by the randomly places power-up’s. While making sure to pickup ammo too.

So if you want to know what Sky Noon is, feast your eyes on this short trailer to get a run down of the game.

Sky Noon: What kind of FPS is it? (Windows, Mac and Linux later)

Game modes include a Free for All, Cart (like payload in TF2) and King of the Hill. Actually the King of the Hill mode is a capture point type gameplay. But the capture point moves throughout the map. And it’s your teams job to hold that point. Which sounds simple enough but it’s challenging.

Fast on the draw, quick with the hook will keep you alive in Sky Noon.

Named one of the Best Indie Games at PAX East 2018. Sky Noon takes place in a reinvented Wild West universe. Where the frontier floats among the clouds. Powerful cartels crave to control the most precious resource in the West: water.

Also, the Easy Anti-Cheat system is enabled as well. So I’m not sure if the game will be playable via Wine, PlayOnLinux or Lutris.

Players take the role of hired gunslingers that battle opposing fighters across floating islands in the sky. There are no health meters in Sky Noon; instead, to eliminate enemies, players use various super-power compressed air weapons to send them flying out of their boot spurs! Grappling hooks and lassos must constantly be used to prevent players from falling off into the great blue sky. Combined with other items like steam-powered jetpacks, jump pads, and teleporters, cowboys need to be quick on the draw and light on their boots in the fast-paced, aerial mayhem.

Early Access release:
