Forge of the Fae a stunning new JRPG adventure game, is officially on the way for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. All thanks to the creative magic flowing from the minds at Datadyne. Which is due to find its way onto Steam.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been waiting for a JRPG that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Due to offer something with that warm, golden glow of the classics, but with enough mystery and strategy to keep your brain going at 3 AM. Well, get ready, because Forge of the Fae is about to swing that enchanted hammer straight into our collective gamer souls.
Deck13 Spotlight — the same crew that brought us modern JRPG treasures like CrossCode and Chained Echoes. Now teaming up with developer Datadyne. Due to bring you an international dream team with serious passion for the genre. And from what I’ve seen so far, Forge of the Fae isn’t just another “retro-inspired” throwback. This is a living, breathing world begging for you explore — and yes, Linux players, we’re getting in on the magic too.
This title drops us into a setting inspired by the misty hills and folklore of 1800s Ireland. Think rolling green landscapes, weather-worn villages, and the kind of ancient magic that feels older than the stones underfoot. But it’s not just scenic views and faerie tales — there’s a serious rift between humans and the fae, and right in the middle of it all is our heroine, Fiora. She’s a young inventor with gears in her pockets, questions in her heart, and an adventure. One that’s due to test her courage, her mind, and maybe even her soul.

What really hooks me is the promise of choice — your decisions will shape how the story unfolds. This isn’t just about grinding for XP. It’s about asking yourself, “Who do I want Fiora to become?” and then living with the answer.
Combat? Oh, Forge of the Fae is deliciously old-school — turn-based, tactical, and built around mastering the “ARC Crystal System” and “Adrenaline” mechanics. Translation: it’s going to be about more than just spamming your strongest attack. You’ll be crafting your own combos, bending the rules of magic, and pulling off those fights. Due to let you lean back in your chair afterward and whisper, “Yeah… I’m a genius.”
But it’s not all battles — all across the land are puzzles that’ll test your brain and reward your curiosity. Crack them, and you’ll uncover powerful gear and hidden lore. Ignore them, and… well, let’s just say you’ll miss out on some juicy secrets.
Forge of the Fae is due to release in 2027 for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC, and there’s already a free demo on Steam. Playable via Proton. It’ll be showing at Gamescom in Cologne and Tokyo Game Show later this year. So if you’re lucky enough to attend, go get your hands on it. Until then, wishlist it on Steam, fire up your PC, and prepare to get deep into a story that’s shaping up to be pure magic.
